PORTRAITS OF CHANGE
SNV - ZIMBABWE 2016

“In Zimbabwe, in terms of food security in the past; while there were large scale commercial farms, the country was fed by smallholder farmers. It is important to ensure they are brought back into mainstream commercial agricultural activities.”

BrandOutLoud is driven by the desire to innovate and push the boundaries of visual, multimedia storytelling in which aesthetic and powerful imagery is the key for successful communication: Visualise to persuade.

This video portrait is part of an exhibition project to showcase SNV's achievements of their five-year agricultural programme.

CONCEPT: EACH PORTRAIT A VISUAL GEM

The ultimate outcome was to have striking, visual stories which enable SNV to inspire potential development partners to take action and get involved.

“We wanted SNV to shine through inspiring visual portraits: To show why this programme matters to them and what it has brought them. We conceived each video and photo portrait as a little visual gem. We wanted to make the audience feel proud to be part of such an exciting and ambitious programme,” Judith Madigan, BrandOutLoud.

“While SNV’s original idea was video and photography, we soon understood that a whole concept linking video, photography, personal stories and impact figures would be better for them to achieve their goals. A total visual 3D experience, surrounding the audience with these Portraits of Change,” Mark van Luyk, BrandOutLoud.

AGRICULTURE IN ZIMBABWE

Over five years, SNV’s agricultural programme has supported more than 250,000 farmers in Zimbabwe. For an event closing the programme they wanted to showcase its achievements and sustainability. BrandOutLoud's team worked in Zimbabwe to portray the people impacted and involved. Each portrait gives a face to the thousands of people who created change. These are their stories.

IMPACT

In May 2016, SNV proudly celebrated the impact of the programme through the Portraits of Change series at a closing event. Participants were surrounded by video screens and large prints, which showcased the people who were part of the programme.

"BrandOutLoud got to the essence of the stories we needed to tell. Their total focus on the people whose stories they helped to tell and the attention to every possible detail was impressive," Country Director SNV Zimbabwe.
